LAUREL  LAURUS NOBILIS

The laurel is a perennial tree, native to the Mediterranean area, which can reach up to 20 meters in height in southern Chile.

Among its main characteristics are its shiny dark green leaves and paler undersides, in addition to its yellowish flowers arranged in sessile umbels, giving it attributes as an ornamental species. Among its physiological characteristics, it stands out its great adaptation to loose and fresh soils, great support against pruning and sensitivity to both parasites and frost.

Its leaves are used in gastronomy and in medicinal waters, either as a stomach tonic, osteoarticular treatments and pediculosis.

Irrigation: medium (caution with water stagnation.)

Light: semi-shade.

Laurel wood is prized for carpentry and home construction. It is painted, varnished, glued and brushed without difficulty.
